How much does the UCAT ANZ cost?
4 min read · Facts checked 19 October 2026

In short
For the 2026 cycle the UCAT ANZ test fee was A$335 in Australia or New Zealand, with a A$240 concession rate for Health Care Card and Pensioner Concession Card holders in Australia. Late bookings added A$85 or A$185, and a refund cost A$50. Fees for the next cycle were not published on 19 October 2026.
On this page
Cost is one of the first questions families ask about the UCAT ANZ, and it is easy to get a wrong answer from an old web page or a forum post. The fees change by cycle. This post gives the figures published for the 2026 cycle (for entry in 2027), and says plainly what is not yet known.
The 2026 test fees
The Consortium's dates and fees page listed these amounts. The test fee is paid when you book, by major debit or credit card, and all fees are in Australian dollars.
| Fee | Amount |
|---|---|
| Test taken in Australia or New Zealand | A$335 |
| Concession fee (Australia only) | A$240 |
| Test taken overseas | A$405 |
| Late booking fee (additional) | A$85 |
| Final late booking fee (additional) | A$185 |
| Refund fee (deducted from the test fee) | A$50 |
| Rescheduling fee (after 29 June, 11:59pm AEST) | A$25 |
The line on your bank statement will read Vue* Testing Exam in Bloomington, USA, because Pearson is a United States merchant, and your bank may add an international transaction fee. The Consortium suggests asking your bank if you have questions about that.
The dates that drive the fees
For the 2026 cycle the key dates were:
| Step | Date (all deadlines 11:59pm AEST) |
|---|---|
| Concessions and access arrangements: applications begin | 16 February 2026 |
| Test booking begins | 3 March 2026 |
| Last day to apply for a concession | 11 May 2026 |
| Last day to book at the base price | 15 May 2026 |
| Late booking period (A$85) | 16 to 29 May 2026 |
| Final late booking period (A$185) | 30 May to 5 June 2026 |
| Cancellation deadline for a refund | 12 June 2026 |
| Testing window | 1 July to 5 August 2026 |
The Consortium says it does not make exceptions to these deadlines. The cheapest outcome is to book before the main booking deadline. Late fees are non-refundable, and booking in the final late period means paying A$185 more than the base price.
The concession fee
The concession scheme page explains who is eligible:
- A candidate with a current, signed Centrelink card, either a Health Care Card or a Pensioner Concession Card, or who is listed on one as a dependant.
- Candidates sitting the test outside Australia cannot use the concession.
- Only those two cards are accepted. A Medicare card is not the right evidence, and the New Zealand Community Services Card, transport concession cards and private health insurance cards are all refused. Claims of hardship on other grounds cannot be considered.
How it worked for 2026:
- Register a Pearson account.
- Fill in the online concession form by the deadline, uploading scans of the front and back of the card along with your UCAT ANZ ID number.
- Once your concession is accepted, you receive a voucher code to use when paying for your test. The Consortium advises applying for the concession before booking so you can use the code.
Applications opened on 16 February and closed on 11 May 2026, and the Consortium states that no applications are accepted after the deadline under any circumstances.
Access arrangements
If a documented medical condition or disability means you get adjustments in school exams, you can apply for access arrangements that let you sit a longer version of the test. In 2026 these had to be granted before the test could be booked. Applications ran from 16 February to 15 May, with late applications to 29 May. If this applies to you, start gathering documentation early rather than waiting for booking to open.
Cancelling and rescheduling
You could cancel for a refund until 12 June 2026, with A$50 deducted. Rescheduling after 29 June at 11:59pm AEST cost A$25. If you need to move your test, doing so earlier avoids the fee.
Keeping the cost down
- Book before the main deadline. Missing it adds A$85, and missing the first late period adds A$185.
- Check the concession early. If a Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card is in the household, apply before booking so the discounted code is ready.
- Pick the date carefully. In the 2026 cycle the A$25 rescheduling fee applied only after 29 June, while cancelling cost A$50.
- Use the free preparation. The Consortium believes every candidate should be able to use free preparation materials, and publishes tutorials, question banks and practice tests.
- Remember it is one sitting a cycle. You can only sit once in a test cycle, so a cancelled booking is not a free retake. Our post on resitting explains.
What is not in these fees
The test fee covers the test. It does not include travel to a test centre, preparation materials or any application fee a university charges. The Consortium's own preparation materials are free, as we describe in using the free materials, so preparation does not need to add to the bill unless you choose to buy extra practice.
What about the next cycle?
The 2027 fees and dates had not been published when this page was checked on 19 October 2026. The 2026 pattern suggests bookings opening around the start of the year and a mid-year testing window, but that is an expectation, not a confirmed schedule. Treat the Consortium's website as the only source for the next dates, and be wary of any page that states next year's fees as fact.
